With our recent expansion, NWIC is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Site Survey Technician, to help troubleshoot internet related issues via phone, email, and social media.

Position Overview:

As a key member of the NWIC team, reporting to the Field Operations Manager, the Site Survey Technician must be comfortable climbing and working at heights of up to 70 ft, be a self-starter who doesn’t mind working independently and has a passion for customer service and telecommunications.

  • Hourly position, $22-$30/hr (based on experience)

Hours of Work:

  • Core Business hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm EST (due to the nature of the business, shifts may be scheduled up to 7:00pm EST on weekdays and/or Saturday’s as may be needed)

Key Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Conducting site surveys for current & perspective customers by assessing:
    • Ability to obtain a signal
    • Identifying strength of signal
    • Land & path elevations
    • Tree coverage
    • Site coordinates
  • Compiling and reporting installation requirements including, but not limited to:
    • Cable run locations
    • Qty of cable required
    • Mounting Equipment needed
    • Manpower required
    • Diagrams of install locations and towers (as needed)
  • Performing radio removals on disconnected services
  • Connecting with customers to obtain approval to access the premises upon arrival
  • Increasing height if required
  • Completing and submitting detailed work orders through a mobile application
  • Performing basic electrical tasks at tower sites when needed
  • Assisting field staff members with installs for jobs that require 2 or more people

Must Have’s:

  • High-school diploma
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract & Criminal Background Check
  • No fear of heights with skill to climb ladders and towers of up to 70 ft high
  • Knowledge/use of GIS mapping systems, Google Earth and/or link path calculations
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use a smart phone (mandatory for entries into the management system)

Great to Have’s:

  • Previous work experience in the telecommunications field, specifically with cabling and terminations
  • Understanding and knowledge of industry language/terms
  • Working from Heights/Fall Arrest Training
  • Understanding of Radio frequencies
